2nd session of the day. After a break for lunch I didn't fancy another crack at the Ho'okipa bouldered traffic jam experience so I shifted a short way down the coast to Kuau. I had been informed that here the waves are of a comparable quality to those at Ho'okipa but without the threat of damage to kit or self and much less busy. The keyhole launch through the stoney beach looks challenging on first inspection but today for my first attempt at sailing here I found it a piece of cake. A short swim then the wind and current easily shepherded me out to the lovely large flat water area that seperates the rocky coastline from the reef and breaking waves.

5.2 was perfect again but the swell wasn't so consistent. Sailing like a muppet I kept on missing the best sets but on the waves I did pick up I really gave it some welly. It was so good to be sailing an uncrowded break with a decent swell and no threat at all of being washed up on to rocks. I didn't exactly "rip it up" today but the potential of this spot was clear. I definitely want to sail here again when the swell is bigger.
